'Fragile Longing' is a story of love, loss, heartbreak, and unbreakable bonds. This novel is written by Cora Reilly . This is a gorgeous story about how life doesn't always work out the way we want it to, but if we're willing, we can still make it a great life. It is a good compelling story, engaging, and easy to read. This is the perfect holiday novel, you can pick it up and get straight back into the story. The novel 'Fragile Longing' is an enjoyable story that moves along at a good pace.

It is not too quickly, but at a pace that keeps the reader engaged waiting to discover the outcome. It has a satisfactory ending which is a little predictable but ties up all the loose ends. Some of the male characters are a little too good to be true but that doesn't spoil any part of the story. The author switches between the two time periods effortlessly and easily which doesn't always happen in these kinds of books. Each storyline had a richness that was only strengthened by the comparison and contrast to the other.

The Longing for Myth in Germany

Since the dawn of Romanticism, artists and intellectuals in Germany have maintained an abiding interest in the gods and myths of antiquity while calling for a new mythology suitable to the modern age. In this study, George S. Williamson examines the factors that gave rise to this distinct and profound longing for myth. In doing so, he demonstrates the entanglement of aesthetic and philosophical ambitions in Germany with some of the major religious conflicts of the nineteenth century. Through readings of key intellectuals ranging from Herder and Schelling to Wagner and Nietzsche, Williamson highlights three crucial factors in the emergence of the German engagement with myth: the tradition of Philhellenist neohumanism, a critique of contemporary aesthetic and public life as dominated by private interests, and a rejection of the Bible by many Protestant scholars as the product of a foreign, 'Oriental' culture. According to Williamson, the discourse on myth in Germany remained bound up with problems of Protestant theology and confessional conflict through the nineteenth century and beyond. Longing tells the story of the greatest artistic couple in history, Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck. They met when she was eight years old and he was seventeen, drawn together first by music and then by their passion for each other. Drawing on their letters and remarkably frank journals, J. D. Landis writes of Clara and Robert's enforced separations, their marriage, their artistic triumphs and failures, and finally their shared devotion to, and love for, a young genius who both came between them and brought them together for the last time. Longing was a New York Times Notable Book.
